When another website links to your web page or post as the case may be,
this will be used by search engines to vote for your website.
Since search engines believe that some links are more
important than others, you’ll need to understand
Link Popularity and Reputation in order to build
a natural looking link for your website.

This will also get you some great free website traffic.
Many people click on links out of curiosity and follow
these links to see where they go.
For free website traffic this is what you want.

Link Popularity is the quantity of links pointing to your web page from
other sites. These links are a vote so to speak for your website.
For good website traffic this is what you want.

A few years ago, search engines ranked web pages depending on the
number of links pointing to them. Good websites attract more links.
But in this day and age it has changed.
Search engines don’t rely on the pure link popularity anymore.
They look at and evaluate links based on their importance.
To establish your web page or post as important, you can:

  1. Get a lot of links from other pages or posts.
  2. Get several links from popular important pages or posts.
  3. Or just use both methods to increase your page rank.
  4. Tip: Getting a link from an EDU site will give you a very good vote.

There is a downside to this…..
You want to build links from relevant pages or posts.
In other words if your website is about recipes you
do not want to have links from say, a page from a dog training site.

Building high-quality links for website traffic

Building high-quality links to your website that are appearing natural
to search engines is one of the most important steps to increase your page rank.
Links make your website get indexed by search engines so they begin
ranking your pages for your target keywords.
The higher rank in search engines you have, the more visitors
you will get when people search on terms containing your target keyword.
This is a very desirable type of website traffic.

Let’s take a look at link building basics to try and understand
some of the most important link concepts for website traffic.

Link Designing

Typically a link consists of two parts:
1. We have URL, and this stands for Uniform Resource Locator.
This is the website address of the website your links point to.
In a sense this is just like your home mailing address.

2) Anchor text. This is the visible text of the link like, (Click Here) or
(NAME OF YOUR WEBSITE) or (PRODUCT YOU ARE SELLING).
This is the same as your name on your mail box.

Having your keywords related to your site as the anchor text is one of
the key elements of link building and getting a high page rank.

But many use an attention grabbing headline also.
It helps if your website keywords you are trying to rank for are related to that link text.

Inbound links are links that point to your web page from a different
page on someone else’s website. For good rankings and website
traffic make the links relevant.

Outbound links are located on
your website and point to someone else’s page.
This in a sense give some link juice to that website and really can't
hurt you much, unless you have 200 links going to it or others.
Be cautious on trading links with other websites as it will hurt you.
